Why render that infinite window
To the mercy of a pen's geometry,
Reduce humanity's song
to an equation we call poetry?
I know the quill embalms images
And shelters them from time.
But why must we save thoughts
Like pack rats on acid?
Yes we have Shakespeare stored,
Along with atom bomb formulas,
let loose by the pen.
Why write?
